Important Zelle®  update:

After March 31st, users will no longer be able to send or receive money within the Zelle® app. Users will need to access Zelle® through their bank's mobile app. If someone you send money to or receive money from is currently using the Zelle® app, they will need to register through their bank's mobile app.

Send Money with Zelle®

FAST - Send and receive money typically in minutes
SAFE - Send money using only an email address or U.S. mobile phone number
EASY - Just log in to your Online Banking through the mobile app

What is Zelle®

Zelle® is a peer-to-peer money transfer app that allows users to move funds from one bank account to another. It’s among a growing number of mobile payment apps that allow you to pay another person with the click of a button, even if they have an account at a different bank.

You can enroll through our Bank of Hays mobile app. Then, you can find a person whom you want to pay by entering their email address or phone number. Finally, choose the amount of money you want to send, and the recipient will get instructions on how to receive the payment quickly, or if the recipient is already enrolled in Zelle®, they will receive the payment in their account instantly.

Always protect yourself from scams while using Zelle. Here are some examples of scams you might encounter:
Financial Institution Impersonators - A scammer pretends to be from a bank and claims they need updated account information or to verify a transaction, with the goal of getting you to click on a link.
Business Account Scam - Consumers attempting to receive money are contacted by a scammer claiming they need to pay for an account upgrade to collect the funds.
Refund Scam - A scammer claims to be a Zelle® agent flagging a fraudulent transaction on your account. During the “refund” process, you’re asked to pay to retrieve the money you never lost.

Here are some good rules of thumb when using Zelle:
Only use Zelle to pay family, friends and other people you trust - Zelle® transfers are similar to cash, and funds are hard to recover once sent.
Be cautious about unsolicited or urgent request - If you’re being rushed into sending payment, that’s a sign to take a step back and verify the transaction.
Be suspicious if someone demands you use Zelle - If the recipient says they have no alternative payment options, that's a red flag!
